Mind Over Madness at Times Square

Yesterday was an amazing day for me . I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the yoga class by Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman Yee at Times Square . As most of you must have heard about it , there was an all day yoga event at Times Square celebrating the 1st International Yoga Day and Solstice . The session I had registered for, ¬†was the last session of the day . After check-in I got my yoga mat and took a place , all ready to start doing yoga , but Mother Earth had some other plans . A big water laden passing cloud decided to stop right above us . With 0% chance of rain no one was prepared for it at all . In 10 minutes we were completely drenched . Finally the rain stopped , the organizers kindly provided towels for everyone to wipe our mats , so that the downward dog pose wont turn out to be kiss your mat pose ūüôā . After a 30 min delay , the class started and it definitely was the best yoga class I have ever attended . All the positive energy really made a difference in my practice . I was totally in the moment . In the midst of the hustle and bustle of Times square , I was as peaceful as if I was in the middle of a forest¬†.

Ritish , who was taking care of Kashvi and keeping her busy for almost two hours , took some pics towards the end .

This day was especially important because it was one more affirmation for me that “thoughts becomes things” . Last year I was one of the spectators of this yoga event and was wishing badly to be able to participate . Without even making too much effort ¬†, it happened so smoothly for me this time that now I am a believer .

Namaste !

Meditation – Day 1 – Shivo Hum

Since meditation is one of the most important part of the full experience of yoga , I have started with Deepak Chopra’s meditation techniques .

Day 1 was to chant mantra “SHIVO HUM”

IMG_0164

The first day is mostly directed towards removing blockages and impurities . This mantra helps in doing just that .

The meaning of this mantra is ” I am Shiva ” . SHIVO HUM¬† will align us with the Divine.¬†¬†When we are aligned with the divinity¬†, all our decision making aligns with the divine’s will . The choices we make towards our goal becomes the right choices .

This mantra gives us the state of happiness  This mantra helps to open us to our natural state of unlimited possibilities .

Hum activates the thyroid  providing energy and balance to the throat chakra , thus removing impurities and blockages .Once the blockages are removed , the path for kundalini gets clear and our individuality connects with the unbound potential of the subconscious .

Shivo Hum ! Shivo Hum ! Shivo Hum !

Happy meditation .

Namaste !
